Where Have We Been?

When Harry and I began the Key Source back in January of 2024, we had no clue just how far this project would take us, and how close of friends we’d become as a result of it. We were able to take prototypes of our magazine to keyboard conventions across the world, and the support we got from the community helped us push forward. Our growing team helped us meet our deadlines and picked up the pieces where necessary. Unfortunately, a lot of that team was unable to move forward with us leading into 2025, and suddenly, all that momentum we had came to a screeching halt.

In tandem with that loss of our team, I not only suffered from debilitating and chronic health issues that worsened mid-2025, but I also unexpectedly lost one of my closest friends around that same time. The mounting struggles in my life had me lose sight of my passions and what motivated me to keep going. I stayed in contact with many of the friends I had made over the course of my years in the hobby, but it was clear that I needed to focus on my health before I could even consider jumping back into writing or photography.

While Harry may not have gone through the same struggles, he and I work best as a team. And without us working together, Key Source wasn’t able to function.

I still would like to apologize for the silence on our part regarding what happened to our print magazine. Everyone who pre-ordered was refunded in full, and we did our best to respond to any DMs asking about the future of Key Source.

We also have a backlog of articles we never released for one reason or another that we plan to publish online over the course of the next few weeks. We’ll make sure to put disclaimers at the top of the article letting you all know when it was we wrote the articles, as some info may feel either dated or is a review of a now older product.

Going forward, we have big plans for our publication. I’ve realized that this love of design and tech goes beyond keyboards. Its scope bleeds into audio, mice, cameras, and so much more. This passion exists everywhere—and so will Key Source. At our core, we founded ourselves on the principle that keyboards and design shouldn’t be gatekept. This is the energy we will continue to carry with us as we expand the breadth of our journalism.

Thank you for being here. Here’s to a new year, and a fresh start.
